WYUA Mission

The mission of the World Youth Uchinanchu Association (WYUA) is to create a strong network and community of next generation Uchinanchu (Okinawans) across the globe with their chance of meeting face-to-face. With the Worldwide Youth Uchinanchu Festival (Wakamono Taikai) we can continue and preserve the unique Okinawan culture, and spark an interest for the Okinawan identity to young Uchinanchu individuals.

  • GLOBAL NETWORK: Expanding and strengthening the global network and continuation of planning ways to create face-to-face relationships.
  • CULTURE IDENTITY: Through exchange, spread the Okinawan language (Uchinaaguchi), immigration, succession of traditional arts and cultural identity.
  • TO THE FUTURE: Build talented individuals to become the link between Okinawa and the world.
